DataGate — Privacy Policy
Last updated 30 June 2026 · MEK TechDataGate ("the app") lets you block individual apps from using your internet connection. It is built to do this entirely on your device, without collecting your data.
The "VPN" is local — it never leaves your phone
DataGate uses Android's VpnService to filter traffic on your device. This is a local mechanism that lets the app drop the connections of apps you choose to block. It is not a remote VPN.
- DataGate does not route your traffic through any remote server.
- It does not read, inspect, log, store, or transmit the contents of your network traffic.
- There is no DataGate server. Your activity is never sent to us or anyone else.
What the app stores
- The list of apps you choose to block is stored locally on your device, in the app's private storage.
- That's all. No accounts, no profiles, no usage history.
Permissions
- VPN (
BIND_VPN_SERVICE) — to create the local filter that blocks selected apps' connections. Required for the core function. - View installed apps (
QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES) — to show you the list of apps you can block. - Notifications — to show the ongoing notification Android requires while the blocker is running.
- Run after restart (
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) — to resume blocking after a reboot, if you enable it.
What we do not do
- No analytics or advertising SDKs.
- No data collection, selling, or sharing.
- No tracking of your activity or which apps you use.
- No MEK Tech server receives any information from the app.
Deleting your data
- Change or clear your blocked-apps list any time inside the app.
- Uninstalling the app removes all of its local data.
